Liquid bested Cloud9 2-0 in the grand final of the EPICENTER Americas closed qualifier, booking their place at the Russian event's Wild Card stage.
Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz's kicked off their run in the qualifier by beating Luminosity 2-1 in the group stage. From that point onward, the North Americans did not concede any more maps, defeating OpTic and Cloud9, respectively, before meeting the latter again in the grand final.
The series began on Train, Cloud9's map pick, with Jake "Stewie2K" Yip and co. getting out to a 9-6 half-time lead as Counter-Terrorists. However, Liquid managed to turn the game around in the second half, finishing it off with a 16-14 scoreline.
Liquid have made it to the Wild Card qualifier after dropping one single map
On Liquid's pick, Inferno, the ESL One New York runners-up took nine rounds into the second half, in which a flawless Terrorist side saw them secure seven rounds in a row to lock down the map in stunning fashion.
